THURSDAY 15th AFTER ASH WEDNESDAY
“Whoever dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty.
I will say of the LORD, “He is my refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust.”
(Psalm 91,1-2 NIV11)
It takes courage to change, and life is always changing. We believe that the mercies of the Lord are new every morning, and so I believe that his mercies are not always the same.
“The steadfast love of the LORD never ceases; his mercies never come to an end;
they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness.”
(Lamentations 3,22-23 ESV)
His mercies are new, not old; therefore, I need to position myself to receive God’s blessing. Yet, despite what and how I feel and the changing world around me, I choose to dwell in the shelter of the Most High; it is in that place where the real change takes place. That access takes courage, and we are encouraged by Jesus to dwell in God’s presence.
God, sometimes, I am overwhelmed by fear,
fearful of change, fearful of others, fearful of the unknown.
In those times, grant me courage,
a courage not borne out of fear but courage that is
guided by your wisdom,
gifted with your presence, and grounded in your calling.1
Amen.
Read and pray and ask the Holy Spirit to use the Word of the Lord to speak to you.
