FIRST WEDNESDAY 21st OF LENT
“And God said, “This is the sign of the covenant I am making between me and you and every living creature with you, a covenant for all generations to come: I have set my rainbow in the clouds, and it will be the sign of the covenant between me and the earth. Whenever I bring clouds over the earth and the rainbow appears in the clouds, I will remember my covenant between me and you and all living creatures of every kind. Never again will the waters become a flood to destroy all life.”
(Genesis 9,12-15 NIV11-GKE)
“This is not about water. It is about God. It is about the God who emotes in anger but who circles back with a second effort to flood us with fidelity. 1”
Every time I watch a rainbow, I am reminded of my childhood. Sometimes, a multicoloured arch appears in the skies when the rain is falling, and some appear. I chose to believe that it is a mystery, even though there is a scientific explanation for it.
It fires my imagination, and it is like a multicoloured suspended bridge that reminds me of wonders, signs and hope. For those of us who have trusted in God’s Son, it is deeper than wonder and sign; it is the belief in our hope in our covenantal God.
Read and pray and ask the Holy Spirit to use the Word of the Lord to speak to you.
