FIRST THURSDAY 22nd OF LENT

“Join together in following my example, brothers and sisters, and just as you have us as a model, keep your eyes on those who live as we do.”
(Philippians 3,17 NIV 11)

There is no other human being worthy of imitating than Jesus. He was fully human and fully God. Here, Paul is urging his readers to imitate him as he imitates Christ. We all have role models that we follow, but following is not the same as imitating. When we do imitate, we take on the values, principles, and even behaviours. We are being transformed into the likeness of Jesus.

God, I am your creation, wonderfully, lovingly, and uniquely made.
But you have created others, those who help guide the way.
Help me seek out and imitate those who live as you intend
with hope, with wisdom, with justice,
with creativity, with conviction, with compassion,
with laughter, with love.
Amen.¹

Read and pray and ask the Holy Spirit to use the Word of the Lord to speak to you.
