Third TUESDAY 5th/MARCH OF LENT

These words were written to a community in exile. A community of aliens living in Babylon. God sent his people there due to their continued disobedience. A whole new generation was born in exile, and they learned to live and cope as best as they could in a strange land. Yet, God was not done with them, and the promise of the return was as real as hope itself. People, learned to trust God, his purposes and ways in a manner that perhaps were not use to and it is possible that they understood something of the very nature of God, a God who is above sovereign and powerful. We too are a community of aliens, sojourners living with the hope of being with God forever.

There is a way into the future in your life, because God is at work doing strange, wondrous things for you and in spite of you, and your job is to get your mind off your ways of need and control, to give your life over to God’s large, hidden way in your life.1
