FOURTH THURSDAY 14th/ MARCH OF LENT
“I am poured out like water, and all my bones are out of joint. My heart has turned to wax; it has melted within me.”
(Psalm 22,14 NIV11-GKE)
“Instead, one of the soldiers pierced Jesus’ side with a spear, bringing a sudden flow of blood and water.”
(John 19,34 NIV11-GKE)
I cannot imagine this level of pain; I know of pain as a few years ago, I went through a painful biopsy, but that is nothing compared to the cruelty of execution by crucifixion. Modern medicine tells us that Jesus was dead when he was pierced, and blood and water were a sign of his body reacting to his cruel death.
This is a reality check, and today is a day to stop and think that Jesus endured the cross so that you and I can be saved, healed, and delivered. But, not all of us are as blessed as we are. Some many brothers and sisters are suffering under severe persecution because they have chosen to believe that Jesus is the Son of God.
Pray for the persecuted church.
