Learn – Inspiration – Vision – Encounter

I have had many teachers in my life, and they have impacted me—some for good, some not so much. I still remember how much I struggled with maths, and then a new teacher came, took time with me, and my grades improved. I was not cut out to be an engineer!! There were others who saw my potential for literature and creativity, and they were inspirational.
When I became a follower of Jesus, the Spirit came in full force. I realized the difference between reading the Scriptures like a novel or a philosophical book and reading under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit.

I can tell you that there is a world of difference between reading the Scriptures under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit. It is there where the words of Jesus in John 14:26 come alive, and he said:

Reading the Scriptures under the teaching of the Holy Spirit means that every truth that is said will have a powerful effect on us. It will instruct us, lead us, correct us and change us.

The way to activate the mind of Christ is for us, as Paul says, to allow the Holy Spirit to instruct us with every word that was spoken by God and Jesus. We do that by letting the weight of the Word of God Rest in our minds through meditation, observation and imagination.
As a preacher, I am amazed to see this work in the lives of the people I preach to. Allowing the Holy Spirit to teach us is allowing his anointing to instruct us, as 1 John 2:26-27 says.
