Learn – Inspiration – Vision – Encounter

“Guide my steps by your word, so I will not be overcome by evil.” (Psalm 119,133 NLT-SE)

We were working hard to develop a faith community in North Belfast. We called it “The Living Room,” where stories were shared, and our vision was to live to share the love of Jesus. We gathered in my house, then in a local school, then in a community centre, and finally in a place called the Hope Link Centre.
People from different backgrounds came to us and enriched the community. I had many conversations of all types, and nothing was off-topic. If the Gospel can speak powerfully to us, how much more can it speak to lives in real need of hearing the liberating news of the Gospel?
One day, I was told that a group I knew of went to see a medium for guidance. I was not surprised but curious about the accuracy of the medium, so I asked a couple of questions, and I realised the real issue was not tapping into which is dark, but wanting to know if their lives had any meaning and if the answer was yes, then what do I do with my life? Guidance, security, purpose and significance. People are searching for the truth to meet all those desires and more.

We have the most perfect, powerful book of guidance, where we can find who we really are and what our purpose is. It is the Word of God. This is why it is so important to learn it, to know its author, and to allow the Voice of the Lord to speak, which He does through His Word and by the revelation and inspiration of the Holy Spirit.

I need guidance as much as you do. I do not need to be overcome by evil and buy into all his lies and false promises. I need to be, live and breathe the Word.
