“Surely the righteous will never be shaken; they will be remembered forever. They will have no fear of bad news; their hearts are steadfast, trusting in the LORD. Their hearts are secure, they will have no fear; in the end they will look in triumph on their foes.” (Psalm 112:6-8 NIV11)
What is it about faith in Jesus that allows us to face the foes of our lives with an assurance that is not of this world?
That is a big question. Today, I have more questions than answers, and that is why I keep believing there is a God.
What moves me about this Psalm is that it does not pretend there is a lack of enemies, sufferings, challenges and hurt. For some of us, this is all too familiar. Have you noticed that we go through a season when all the worries we fear come together, affecting us to sometimes the point of being unable to cope? I remember that in my family, we went through a season of funerals; they came one after the other. Grannies, aunts, and cousins all left us within a year.
Bad news is everywhere your eyes are set on, but God’s Word is there to sustain us. The key is not losing faith and Trust in the one who created all things and the very one who have made you into his image and can sustains you and me.
Fear come, and bad news is at the touch of an app, yet we can stay steadfast in our trust and love of the Lord. Love casts away fear.
When you know you are loved, you can trust. Today is the time to rest and be secured, trusting our hearts in the one who comes alongside us, the wonderful Advocate.
