The scenery is…well, it takes your breath away, literally! I drove to Horn Head, and I brought my dog with me…
Kazan was barking, asking me to take him out for his walk, and I was busy doing something not that important but enough to keep me occupied. Kazan won! I looked at him and said, “Let’s go,” he went mad, he understand those three words. He jumped into the car boot, and we set out to Horn Head.
Everyone I have met so far has told me how amazing it is, and they are right, so I checked the roads and drove. Soon, we started to climb up, and the road was very narrow, with enough space for one car. Then we came to a crossroads and took the right-hand side one; the other one takes you to the WW2 outpost.
Well, the right road was something. I could see the cliffs, the drops, plus the strong wind and Kazan, sensing the danger, was barking even more. Then we came across some silly sheep, and he went ever louder, asking me, stop, let me out of the car! Then, I drove into a parking viewing place. I got out, walked, and took it all in, and the dog was looking at me, mad that he was not out of the car, but I couldn’t let him out! The sheep, the size of the cliffs …oh! how close you are to them; I decided to get back into the car and drove back to find a park or beach where Kazan could run wild!

I told you so!!
I realised that I had chickened out, and it was not like me; I usually march until I reached my destination. So, what happened?
Was it fear? Or was it my dog? – I can always blame him!!
We found a lovely beach, and Kazan thanked me! He was happy, but I pondered and prayed about the decision to return from Horn Head.
Then we got home. Kazan ate, and he was tired and sat next to me, and I began to pray and give thanks for the adventure. Then I heard these words: “The brave thing to do is to turn back and start again.”
Sometimes we find ourselves facing challenging times, it is then when we do not give up trying to hear God’s voice and seek His presence. Sometimes, his voice is as clear as a blue sky, and other time is hard like being in a dark winter stormy day.
Sometimes, the way forward is to turn back and start again where you had a meaningful encounter with the Lord
I am going back, and I think he wants me back, and I want him back. Going back is not a waste of time; it is not a sign of failure and resignation. To go back is to get to a familiar place yet an exciting one, as it becomes the platform to lean forward. It cannot be a failure; you and I worship and serve a God who is not bound up with time; he is eternal, and as Ecclesiastes 3:11 says” “He has set eternity into our hearts”.
Go back to where he last spoke to you, where you felt his presence, the place Moses called the “Holy Ground”, where the flame of God’s power never fades. He may ask you to remove your sandals and do it, fall down at his presence and worship without fear.
One day, if the weather is like today ( warm and sunny), I will walk from the house to Horn Head. This time, I will be ready!
