I saw the car being parked, I did not see her but then it was clear, she was standing in front of me looking through the windows. I thought it was her child, but in fact, it looked more like her grandad. She was saying goodbye without saying it.
I had my Bible opened in Romans 15 and also my Kindle book, praying for inspiration, when she came to my table are cleared my rubbish, my empty coffee cup and what was left of my lunch. I said “thank you” she looked at me, smile and moved away from me.
I was moved by the way she said goodbye to her dad, her eyes wide open communicating how much she was loved and how much she loves. It was no more than five seconds where love became real, it was understood, it was intimate.
Some of us do this every day, for some of us this is natural, it is part of who we are, yet today this was such a simple act of love, it was holy, almost infant.
I wonder how many I have missed that pause, where time is insignificant and to hear the whisper of the Holy Spirit telling me how much I am loved. I wonder how many times I have chosen to look away!
“My beloved friends, let us continue to love each other since love comes from God. Everyone who loves is born of God and experiences a relationship with God.”
