“Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ,”
(Galatians 1:3 ESV)
Grace is a gift, a free gift, grace is “favour”. To be a woman or man of grace means that deep within us there is an experiential understanding of our own radical disorderly mortality before God and an acute awareness of His Grace/Gift/Favour to us. It is free to experience it but it is costly, Jesus paid the price of it.
To be gracious is not just being kind, nice or even sympathetic but it is to live life from a place of freedom, we are partakers of God’s divine nature (2Pt.1:4) and this was and is God’s own will.
To say “peace to you” is a powerful attribute and statement that we share in Christ. Peace is not the absence of conflict but it is like a tank full of the goodness and promises of God ready to be experienced. It is like an invasion of the Presence of God, it is his soothing presence of God taking residence wherever chaos dwells. It is released by invitation only, it happens when we accept the Gospel. Jesus is the only person that I know of that can bring order to my inner world.
We are living in a deeply wounded world, we have experienced so much pain, so may this greeting “Grace to you and peace from our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ” speak deeply to your own mortality bringing comfort and assurance that you are love.
Lord thank you for your grace.
Lord thank you for your peace.
Lord thank you for calling me your son.
