These verses are a strong declaration during extreme tragedy, loss and hopelessness.
The writer of these words somehow knew how to be encouraged. He lived in an environment that was surrounded by death, violence, sickness and injustices.
How is this possible? There are no reasons, and there is no logic, just Faith. The inner confidence placed on the One who Creates, Loves and Protects, even if times are hard, as they are, Faith elevates our sight towards the Redeemer One.
For those who believe, this is reassuring, that we endure suffering hand by hand with our Lord who is our portion.

“The LORD’S loving kindnesses indeed never cease, For His compassions never fail. They are new every morning; Great is Your faithfulness. “The LORD is my portion,” says my soul, “Therefore I have hope in Him.” The LORD is good to those who wait for Him, To the person who seeks Him.” (Lamentations 3:22–25 NAS95)
