TUESDAY HOLY WEEK 26th/MARCH
“Let each of you look not only to his own interests, but also to the interests of others. Have this mind among yourselves, which is yours in Christ Jesus, who, though he was in the form of God, did not count equality with God a thing to be grasped, but emptied himself, by taking the form of a servant, being born in the likeness of men. And being found in human form, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross.”
(Philippians 2,4-8 ESV)
Today is Tuesday and let the words of the Apostle Paul resonate within you. They are the Word of God. Paul had a vision of Jesus, and he describes Him here not just in terms of what he did but also in terms of his character.
What comes to our minds when we read, “Let each of you look not to his interests, but also to the interests of others? Paul is stating more than the obvious, he is forcing us to face our self-interests and how they are challenged when we realise the sacrifice Jesus made. He asks us to see beyond ourselves and look at our neighbours with the same servant heart of Jesus.
To be like Jesus is to become a servant.
Father God, help us to serve.
