I am sure you remember this classic “Soon and very soon we are going to see the King…”

It happened when we were doing a ministry placement while studying in Belfast Bible College. We were sent to minister once a week, for a whole term, to a Residential Home in East Belfast.

There were four of us in the team and I, being the musical one, had the responsibility of leading worship. The rest of the team prayed, read the Bible and talked. When it came to select the songs one of our team member suggested this classic: “Soon and very soon we are going to see the King! This team member thought that our audience will love it!

I could not believed what I was hearing…we were in a Residential Home! Just picture with me singing our hearts out, with a great smile in our faces “Soon and very soon we are going to see the King”  –  twice and then asking them to sing along with us!

Now, after many years I can laugh about it! The truth is that we don’t need to wait till we get to a residential home for us to think, or sing “Soon and very soon…” We can all experience the Presence of the King, seeing his face will be our greatest reward.

This week I was reading Psalm 24 and these verses moved me:

“He will receive blessing from the LORD and righteousness from the God of his salvation. Such is the generation of those who seek him, who seek the face of the God of Jacob. Selah” (Psalms 24:5–6 ESV)

I want to be part of a generation who seek Him, generation who seek the Face of God and a generation that is not content with merely knowing about Him but being know by him!
