People of his Pasture

Come. Let us bow down in worship, let us kneel before the Lord, our Maker, for he is our God, and we are the people of his pasture, the flock under his care. (Ps 95:6-7)

At the time when Jesus was born, shepherds were pastoring in Bethlehem. Then, on one occasion, heaven opened up, and many Angels appeared singing praises to God, announcing to the shepherds the Good News: the arrival of KING JESUS.

The shepherds were the first to see this open heavenly vision, a wonder of God, and this led to action: “Let’s go to Bethlehem”. Thus, the Shepherd visited the true Shepherd that came into this world, and I believe this to be an affirmation of the nature of the KING JESUS.

There is something healthy when we kneel in worship before God. It takes away the self-centeredness of our lives, and it brings us into the place where we belong, and in that place, we are called the people of his pasture. It is a place of abundance, overflowing with the life-giving flow of God’s Spirit.

It is reassuring that we have someone who can lead our daily steps and care about the way the True Shepherd does.

Be Blessed
