I wonder how you feel when you are asked to be still.
Why are we commanded to be still?
He says, “Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth.”
(Psa 46:10 NIV11)
It is important for three reasons:
1. Be still is a posture. We posture ourselves in this way before God in order to be known by Him.
2. This posture of “being still” is a one of worship, the root of the word is to bow down in worship. It is through worshipping Him that we get to know Who he is and what he does.
3. Be still, is another way of resting in His Presence.
What an invitation!!
