“A shoot will come up from the stump of Jesse; from his roots a Branch will bear fruit. The Spirit of the LORD will rest on him— the Spirit of wisdom and of understanding, the Spirit of counsel and of might, the Spirit of the knowledge and fear of the LORD—” (Isaiah 11:1–2 NIV11-GKE)

Let me list all these attributes coming from the shoot the stump of Jesse, from the roots that will bear much fruit. Isaiah possibly did not know that he was prophesying about Jesus.

• The Spirit of the Lord will rest on him
• The Spirit of Wisdom
• The Spirit of Understanding
• The Spirit of Counsel
• The Spirit of Might
• The Spirit of Knowledge
• The Spirit of the Fear of the Fear of the Lord.

What a list! All these attributes belong to Jesus. I am so glad and relieved that there is someone that I can trust, rest, and know my inner world and the chaos of the world we live in.

This world of ours is going through so many challenges, pain, confusion and lack of direction. Yet, there is one who knows and understand, someone who has the power to create and to bring healing.

I am so glad and relieved that this is Jesus. I want the reality of his presence and the truth of these attributes to sink in, deliver me from fears, and bring me closer to my redeemer.
