GOOD FRIDAY 29th/MARCH OF LENT
“Let each of you look not only to his own interests, but also to the interests of others. Have this mind among yourselves, which is yours in Christ Jesus, who, though he was in the form of God, did not count equality with God a thing to be grasped, but emptied himself, by taking the form of a servant, being born in the likeness of men. And being found in human form, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross.”
(Philippians 2,4-8 ESV)
Finally, the day came when Jesus was executed; he was put to death. This is the day when the whole of humanity, past and present, has changed forever. The Son of God, the Son of Man, Jesus died. He became an obedient servant, and he humbled himself to the point of death, not just a casual death, but death on a Cross. The symbol of public humiliation and an expectable with was hard to watch.
Jesus was obedient. He obeyed like a man, like a human being. He did not ask for heavenly help or use all his divine powers. He became like us to show us his redemptive love and his unrelenting pursuit of the heart of every human being.
Today is Good Friday, and although it is when we remember Jesus’s death, it is also a Good Friday. God’s plan is unfolding for the salvation of people, of nations, and for you and me.
Thank you, Jesus.
